Rejections usually come from the fingerprint or the sensor. Dry, worn or damaged fingertips are hard to read, and a dirty or scratched sensor makes it worse. A poor first enrolment also causes repeat failures, so re-enrolling the user with a clean finger and a full, flat press often fixes it. We clean the sensor, test a few enrolments and suggest enrolling a second finger or a card for users who struggle. If the sensor is damaged, the terminal needs repair.
If the terminal accepts the user but the door stays shut, the fault sits between the terminal and the lock. Common causes are a loose relay wire, a power supply too weak for the lock, a faulty lock or a door that is binding on its frame. We test the relay output, measure power at the lock and check the exit button and door contact. Fixing the cause avoids the lock burning out again.
Wrong time on an attendance terminal skews every record. The clock may have been set by hand and drifted, the battery inside the device may be weak after a power cut, or the terminal may not be syncing with the attendance software. We set the time, check the battery and review the link to the software. We also look at whether the device is on a stable power supply, because repeated power loss resets settings.
A turnstile that stays locked after a valid read may have a reader signal problem, a faulty control board, a stuck arm mechanism or a lane sensor that is blocked. We start by checking whether the reader sends a release signal, then test the board, the arm solenoid or motor and the sensors. Dust, debris and bent arms are common in busy lanes. We also test the emergency release before leaving.
List each door with a fault and describe what happens, for example no beep, no unlock or random restarts. Have a user list and any admin details at hand, plus building plans or door types if you have them. If the system links to attendance software, tell us who manages it. Clear access to the controller cabinet and ceiling space above doors saves time and lets the technician complete tests in one visit.
It should. A correct installation links the barrier to the fire alarm panel, so the leaves open and stay open when the alarm sounds. This is a safety requirement for lobbies where people need to leave quickly.
Qasar Al Neil Automatic Doors tests this connection during commissioning and during every service.
A correctly installed turnstile is fail-safe. In a power cut or on a fire alarm signal, the arms or flaps release so people can walk out. Some models drop the arms, others unlock the rotor.
Qasar Al Neil Automatic Doors tests this release at handover and during servicing.
A swing barrier suits lobbies that need a welcoming look and easy access for wheelchairs, trolleys and luggage. A turnstile physically restricts one person at a time and suits sites where tailgating is a bigger concern. Some buildings use both: a turnstile for staff and a swing barrier for the accessible lane.
