Poor lighting is the usual cause, especially strong sun or a bright window behind the user. A smudged lens, a terminal mounted too high or low, and users standing at an awkward angle also reduce recognition. We clean the unit, check the mounting height and look at the light at different times of day. If a terminal still struggles, we review its settings and re-enrol users in the actual entrance conditions.
An offline reader normally has a network or power fault. A damaged cable, a loose connector, a failed switch port, a changed IP address or a reader that lost power can all show as offline. We check the reader display, test the cable and port, confirm the address and test power at the unit. Where the server itself has moved or changed address, devices need to be pointed at it again.
Wipe the sensor gently with a soft, lint-free cloth, slightly damp if there is grease, and avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive pads. Frequent misreads even after cleaning may mean a scratched sensor or a failing unit. Dry, cold or worn fingers also affect results, so test with several users before blaming the device. If the sensor remains poor after cleaning and re-enrolment, the terminal needs inspection and possible replacement.
Usually the existing platform can take more devices, but limits depend on the software setup and the models involved. We check the current system, the network, the cable route and the power available at the new door. Door hardware also matters: a terminal needs a suitable lock, power and an exit button. Bring any site drawings and the current device list to the visit so we can plan the extra doors properly.
We clean readers and sensors, check mounting and cable glands, test each lock, closer and exit button, and measure power supply output. Each terminal is checked for network contact, and the clock is compared with the server. We then review user lists with you and note any terminals that misread. A short report lists faults found and the repairs we recommend.
It should. A correct installation links the barrier to the fire alarm panel, so the leaves open and stay open when the alarm sounds. This is a safety requirement for lobbies where people need to leave quickly.
Qasar Al Neil Automatic Doors tests this connection during commissioning and during every service.
A correctly installed turnstile is fail-safe. In a power cut or on a fire alarm signal, the arms or flaps release so people can walk out. Some models drop the arms, others unlock the rotor.
Qasar Al Neil Automatic Doors tests this release at handover and during servicing.
A swing barrier suits lobbies that need a welcoming look and easy access for wheelchairs, trolleys and luggage. A turnstile physically restricts one person at a time and suits sites where tailgating is a bigger concern. Some buildings use both: a turnstile for staff and a swing barrier for the accessible lane.
