Supplied, installed, serviced and repaired by Qasar Al Neil Automatic Doors.

Marantec is a German company based in Marienfeld, in East Westphalia. The name comes from Marienfelder Antriebstechnik, and the company makes operators and control systems for garage doors and other doors and gates, for homes and for commercial use. Qasar Al Neil Automatic Doors installs, repairs and maintains Marantec systems in Abu Dhabi and across Abu Dhabi. We are an independent service company with no link to the manufacturer.

Marantec garage door motor repair in Abu Dhabi

A Marantec garage door motor sits in a head unit on a rail above the door, with a chain or belt moving a trolley. The faults that bring owners to us:

  • The door moves a short way and stops or reverses, which is usually a force, limit or sensor issue.
  • The motor runs but the door stays put, which is a slipping or broken drive part or an unlatched trolley.
  • The opener is dead, which points at the power supply, fuse, wiring or control board.
  • The light or the remote works only at close range, which points at the receiver, aerial or handset battery.

Before blaming the opener, we test the door by hand. A door with a broken spring or a binding roller overloads any motor. Our automatic garage doors page covers both sides, and residential garage doors shows the common door type.

Marantec remote control and receiver

Handsets wear out, buttons stop responding and batteries die. We test each handset against the receiver, replace batteries and add handsets where the system allows. Which handset suits which operator depends on the radio system, so we confirm before ordering. See remote controls and receivers.

Marantec swing and sliding gate operators

Marantec also makes operators for swing and sliding gates. Swing arms loosen and wear, sliding pinions and tracks collect sand, and limit settings drift. Safety comes from photocells and edges that stop the gate on an obstacle. Read about automatic sliding gates, automatic swing gates and swing gates.

Marantec installation and maintenance

On installation we match the operator to the door or gate, mount it, set limits and force and test safety reversal and sensors. Maintenance includes:

  • Checking chain or belt tension, trolley and rail, and lubricating the moving parts.
  • Testing sensors, force settings and the emergency release.
  • Inspecting the control board and power supply for heat, dust or moisture.
  • Testing every remote and wall control.

Other German makers we work on include Hormann and Sommer. Book a free site visit and we will check the operator and the door together.

Marantec service, frequently asked questions

The light on my Marantec opener comes on but the door will not move. What is wrong?

If the light works, the unit has power, so look at the drive or the door. Check that the trolley is connected to the carriage and that the door is not locked or blocked. Lift the door by hand with the opener disengaged: if it is heavy, a spring or roller is at fault. If the door moves freely, the drive gear, chain or belt may be slipping, or the control board may not be sending power to the motor. Please do not keep pressing the remote.

Why does my Marantec remote only work close to the door?

Short range usually means a weak handset battery, a poor or damaged receiver aerial, or radio interference from new equipment nearby, such as LED drivers or a metal panel placed over the aerial. Replace the battery first. If range is still poor, we check the aerial position and the receiver. A handset that works only when pressed right at the door should not be ignored, as it often fails completely soon after. We test and replace the faulty part on site.

My Marantec opener is old. Should I repair it or replace it?

That depends on what failed. A worn belt, trolley, battery or remote is straightforward to put right on a unit that otherwise works well. A failed control board or a stripped motor gear on an old unit is harder, because parts may not be available for every model. We check the model number, tell you what can be repaired and what cannot, and let you decide. If replacement is the better choice, we will fit an operator rated for your door weight.

What should I prepare before a Marantec gate operator visit?

Clear the path of the gate, keep vehicles and pets away and make sure someone can give access to the control box. Have all remotes ready so we can test them. If you know the model number, note it down, and tell us what the gate does wrong, for example stopping halfway, reversing or buzzing. If a power cut or storm came before the fault, mention that, as it points us toward the control board or power supply.

How often should garage door springs be replaced?

A garage door torsion or extension spring typically lasts several years of normal daily cycles before it loses tension or shows visible gaps between coils. In UAE heat and dust, springs can corrode or weaken faster than in cooler climates, so a door that feels heavier to lift, closes unevenly, or makes a banging noise usually needs the spring checked.

Spring replacement is not a safe DIY job: a loaded spring under tension can cause serious injury. Our technicians replace springs with the correct size and tension for your door weight, and check the cables and drums at the same time since they wear together.

Why are the rubber seals on my garage door cracking or coming loose?

The bottom and side rubber seals on a garage door shield the garage from dust, heat and rain. UAE sun exposure dries out and hardens rubber over time, which is why seals crack, shrink or pull away from the track years before the rest of the door needs attention.

A failed seal lets in sand and hot air and can let the door bind on the track. Replacing the seal is a quick fix, and worth doing as soon as you notice daylight or dust coming through the gap rather than waiting for it to fail completely.

What causes garage door rollers to get noisy or stuck?

Garage door rollers run inside a metal track hundreds of times a year, and dust is the most common cause of a noisy or sticking roller in this region: grit works into the roller bearing and track, increasing friction. A bent track, a roller that has worn out of round, or missing lubrication all show up the same way, as grinding, squeaking or a door that hesitates partway.

We check whether the track needs straightening or cleaning, or whether the rollers themselves have worn out and need replacing, rather than just oiling a problem that will come back.

My garage door hinges are loose or bent, is that a safety issue?

Yes. Hinges hold the door panels together as they flex around the curve of the track, and a loose, bent or cracked hinge puts uneven strain on the panel next to it, which can crack the panel or let the door come off the track. Hinges closest to the bottom of the door usually wear first since they carry the most movement.

We replace hinges in matching sets rather than one at a time where wear is uneven, so the door moves smoothly again instead of straining the next hinge along.
