Tormax is a Swiss brand of pedestrian and industrial door systems and belongs to the Landert Group. Its entrances are used in offices, malls, hotels, airports and apartment buildings. Qasar Al Neil Automatic Doors installs, repairs and maintains Tormax automatic doors in Abu Dhabi, with a focus on sliding and swing entrances.

Tormax automatic sliding door repair

Most Tormax sliding entrances follow the usual layout: a header with the drive unit, a belt or similar transmission, carriers on a rail, a controller and sensors. Problems we are asked to fix include:

  • A belt that is stretched, cracked or jumping teeth.
  • A leaf that drags because a wheel is worn or the rail is dirty.
  • A motor that hums or runs hot.
  • A controller that stops with a fault after a power dip.
  • Doors that open too late for people walking quickly.

We check each in turn rather than replacing a part and hoping, and we explain what we find so you can decide.

Tormax swing and revolving door operators

Tormax makes swing door operators for leaves that need to open automatically, plus revolving doors for lobbies. A swing operator needs correct closing speed, force and sensing on the swing side. A revolving door has a drive and several sensors on the rotating assembly, and these must stop the wings when someone is caught. We test these safety functions during every visit. Folding door sets and glass leaf fixings are checked where they apply.

Sensors, glass and guide rails

Radar sensors, infrared safety curtains, floor-mounted guides and guide rails all affect how smoothly the door runs. Glass should be fixed securely, and cracked or chipped edges should be reported before they spread. Our safety sensor service describes how we test detection devices.

Tormax installation and maintenance in Abu Dhabi

New installations start with a site survey: opening width, glass weight, header space and traffic flow. Maintenance visits clean and adjust the whole system, then test reversal and safety stops. Browse automatic revolving and sliding glass doors and revolving glass doors for related work, or control panels if the entrance has separate control equipment.

We also service ASSA ABLOY and Dormakaba entrances. Book a free site visit to have the door inspected.

Tormax خدمة الصيانة: الأسئلة الشائعة

How can I tell if my Tormax sliding door belt needs replacing?

Warning signs include a clicking or slapping sound from the header, a leaf that jerks at the start of travel, visible cracks or fraying on the belt, and slack that lets the leaf wander. A belt that has jumped a tooth can also leave the door out of alignment. We open the header, check tension and condition, and replace the belt together with any worn pulleys or wheels, since a new belt on a rough rail will not last.

Why does my Tormax swing door operator close too fast or slam?

Closing speed on an automatic swing door is set through the operator's adjustments. If it slams, the setting may have drifted, the door may be binding on its hinges, or a mechanical part in the operator arm may be worn. Wind pressure and ventilation can also push the leaf. We adjust speed and latching force, check hinges and the arm linkage, and make sure the door still stops safely if someone is in its path.

My Tormax door stopped working after a power cut. What should I check?

First check whether the isolator or breaker for the door has tripped and whether the operator's mode switch is set to automatic. A power dip can also leave the controller in a fault state until it is reset and relearns its travel. If the door still will not move, leave it in manual mode and call us. We test the supply, the controller and the motor, and look for damage caused by a surge.

Does a Tormax service include the glass and guide rail?

Yes, a thorough visit covers the whole door, not just the electronics. We check the guide rail for wear and dirt, the carrier wheels, floor guides and brushes, then look at the glass leaves, fixings and seals. If a glass edge is chipped or a fixing is loose, we point it out so it can be dealt with. Glass replacement itself depends on the leaf type and may need measuring on site first.

How do I know if my automatic sliding glass door needs a new belt?

Most automatic sliding glass door operators (including common commercial brands) drive the door leaf with a toothed drive belt. A belt that has stretched or has worn or missing teeth causes the door to move unevenly, slow down partway, or make a slapping or ticking sound as it opens and closes.

A loose belt can sometimes be re-tensioned, but a cracked or frayed belt should be replaced before it snaps, which would leave the door stuck. We carry belts to match common sliding door operators and check the drive pulley for wear at the same time.

Why does my automatic sliding glass door sensor stop detecting people?

The sensor above an automatic sliding glass door uses motion or presence detection to open the door and to stop it closing on someone standing in the doorway. A sensor that misses people, triggers randomly, or stops responding is usually dirty, misaligned after a knock, or has a failing connection to the control unit; direct sunlight or reflective flooring can also confuse some sensor types.

We clean and realign the sensor first, then check its wiring and settings at the controller, and replace the sensor itself only if it still will not detect reliably.

Why do the wheels on an automatic sliding glass door wear out?

The door leaf of an automatic sliding glass door hangs from wheels (rollers) running in an overhead track. Constant daily cycles wear the wheel bearings and can flatten the wheel surface, which shows up as the door sagging, dragging on the floor guide, or moving with a bump instead of smoothly.

We replace the wheels and check the overhead track for wear or debris at the same time, since a worn track shortens the life of new wheels too.

Why does my automatic sliding door open and close by itself?

A radar sensor can be set off by movement outside the door, a swaying sign, reflections or dirt on the lens. It can also be misaligned after cleaning or an impact.

Qasar Al Neil Automatic Doors checks the sensor, adjusts its detection area and tests the door to make sure it opens only when someone is approaching.
